Senior Copywriter

Marketing · BRUNSWICK, Victoria
Department Marketing
Employment Type Full-Time
Minimum Experience Experienced

Like sleep, words are important to us. They have the power to connect with and engage with people from all walks of life. Our copy sets the tone of our brand experience at every touchpoint and our Senior Copywriter lives and breathes creativity, even in their sleep. The role is for someone who is as excited about creative copy as they are passionate about the strategic thinking behind it, and sees the opportunity to create brand magic with words.

This role nestles in with the creative team and reports directly to the Creative Lead, working closely with the Marketing Director. The aim of the role is to bring the voice of Sheet Society to life across both internal and external communications, strategise and deliver bold campaigns and to write copy that makes our audience laugh, think, and most importantly, want to snuggle up in bed with our products.

Our Senior Copywriter is a master collaborator and works closely both within the Marketing teams as well as throughout the entire business from Customer Experience to eCommerce to People & Culture and even Finance. Their role isn’t just about executing deliverables, it aims to champion our Tone of Voice and empowers everyone at Sheet Society to speak on behalf of our brand.

  • Writing copy from the Sheet Society persona, embodying our brand, and creating copy that adheres to and elevates our tone of voice and our values. You will create engaging copy that stops the reader in their tracks (or their scroll), grabs their attention, and inspires them to take action – whether that’s to add to cart or stay in bed.
  • Ownership of all website copy, ensuring collection pages, product descriptions, and category pages are on brand, delivering the right messaging, as well as in line with SEO requirements.
  • Writing engaging and creative email copy to maximise both performance metrics and to deliver a punchy message that encourages engagement.
  • Work collaboratively to provide copy to the Retail, Marketing, Product and Growth teams

Campaign ideation & rollout

  • Strategically ideating and presenting creative copy for seasonal, promotional and product campaigns. Consistently pushing the boundaries of the Sheet Society Tone of Voice in a quest for the most relatable, engaging words that help bring our product to life.
  • Responsible for ensuring the copy strategy for each campaign is clear and concise from ideation right till the end of the campaign in market.

Must-have skills for this role..

  • You’re a well-seasoned writer. You love a pun and an idiom, but you also know when not to use them. You have experience writing for different marketing channels: print, OOH, digital, social, above the line. You know best practice rules for different mediums, and when to break them.
  • You have the ability to form a narrative and create an emotional connection in everything you write. You have a genuine talent for writing, which is displayed every time you put pen to paper – or finger to keyboard. You understand the importance of brand voice and you adopt the Sheet Society brand voice as your own.
  • Behind the words, you have big dreams. You’re always thinking of the big picture and considering how words can have a bigger impact. You use words to cleverly and creatively communicate your concepts, but are also confident presenting your ideas. You consider the success of previous campaigns as well as pop culture in your development of future ideas and campaigns.
  • You put yourself in the shoes of our customers and know what copy they’ll connect to. You have a good sense of humour and know how to speak to both customers externally as well as stakeholders internally. You’re generally a friendly human, able to brainstorm with our team and collaborate on ideas.
  • You get that US audiences call it arugula, not rocket. You know how to adjust copy at relevant touch points to make sense of the nuances of our USA audience – and other global audiences.
  • You’re able to prioritise, work efficiently within deadlines and manage the entire creative workflow of copywriting via our workforce management system, ASANA.
